The diet and exercise approach to health and wellness has long been the cornerstone of conventional wisdom. It’s no wonder. The diet and exercise-centric approach is backed by decades of research highlighting the importance of proper nutrition and regular physical activity for maintaining physical health, managing weight, and reducing the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, obesity – you name it, it’s probably been researched. (Unless, of course, we’re talking about this in the context of the female body, which is an email for another time.) But while the food you eat and the amount of movement you get are crucial, they’re just two pieces of a much larger puzzle.

The diet and exercise approach focuses predominantly on the physical aspect of health, often overlooking the mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions that are integral to experiencing a good quality of life. Stress, sleep quality, social connections, and mental health are factors that diet and exercise alone cannot fully address. This is where the holistic approach to health comes into play, offering a more comprehensive perspective.
