Let’s clear something up: If you’ve ever been told you’re too sensitive, too emotional, too reactive—it’s not a character flaw. It’s an intelligent nervous system response. And it makes sense. In fact, your nervous system is responding exactly as it was designed to in the face of a perceived threat.
STUCK IN HIGH-FUNCTIONING SURVIVAL MODE?
Here’s what this can look like in real life:
- You’re emotionally resilient on the outside, but exhausted and overstimulated inside
- You overthink your food choices, not because you’re obsessed—but because your system needs control to feel safe
- You can’t rest, even when you’re tired
- You fluctuate between productivity highs and freeze-mode lows
This is high-functioning dysregulation—where the nervous system is in a chronic state of activation, but still managing to “keep it together.”
And this state? Leads to food fixation. Hormonal chaos. Emotional reactivity. And yes, that lingering, all too familiar feeling of “something’s just off.”
WHAT IF YOU’RE NOT STUCK—JUST TRAPPED IN A LOOP?
Your thoughts, your choices, even your reactions aren’t just mindset issues—they’re shaped by your state. As polyvagal expert Deb Dana says, “State drives story. So instead of asking: “What’s wrong with me? Try asking: “What state is my system in?”
A SOMATIC ENTRY POINT FOR REAL RELIEF
Here’s one practice I use with clients to build safety and reduce hypervigilance:
The “Safety Inventory” Practice
Do this once a day (5 minutes tops).
- Sit or lie somewhere comfortable.
- Ask: What sights, textures, or smells in my environment feel neutral or calming?
- Let your eyes and body rest on those cues for 30–60 seconds at a time.
- Notice if anything shifts.
- Name it out loud: “My shoulders dropped,” or “I feel expansion in my chest.”
This simple shift helps rewire the nervous system’s default setting from “on guard” to “okay enough.”
WHAT COMES NEXT?
Most of my clients arrive in my inbox saying: “I’ve done all the things. And I still don’t feel like myself.” That’s because the root cause has been bypassed, and another strategy isn’t the answer. You need support for your system.
That’s what I do.
I work with high-achieving women ready to regulate from the root—so they can feel grounded in their food, emotions, and life again.
If that sounds like you? Let’s talk because I’ve got 2 open spots for 1:1 work this summer, and you can apply here. Or, simply fill out a contact form and tell me what your body’s been holding. I’ll respond personally.
You’re not too much. Welcome to the space that meets you where you really are.
