Feel More in Control This Summer—Without Controlling Everything

If you’re someone who loves a good plan, summer can feel… messy.

One week you’re traveling. The next, you’re home juggling meals, events, or kids out of school. Suddenly:

  • You’re skipping meals or grazing all day
  • Your workouts feel off or inconsistent
  • You can’t stick to a routine that actually feels good

And so you try to fix it the way you always have: More control. More planning. More pressure.

But here’s the thing: Control isn’t the same as regulation.

Your Body Craves Rhythm, Not Rules

In my practice, I teach clients to build nervous system rituals—tiny, repeatable habits that help the body feel safe regardless of the season or schedule.

Here’s one we often start with:

Somatic Meal Mapping

Before each meal or snack, pause for 30 seconds. Check-in with your body:

  • What kind of texture do I want right now?
  • What temperature would feel comforting?
  • How hungry am I on a 1–10 scale?

This creates safety and builds trust. And often, it decreases the chaotic “all or nothing” patterns with food and schedules that show up during summer.

What Clients Say

“Before working with you, I thought I needed to fix myself. Now I actually know how to listen and trust myself. I feel more stable even when life is busy.” —A.

That’s the shift. We’re not forcing control. But we are building regulation.
