Stress Relief Through Healthy Eating

I’ve done the research so you don’t have to. When I first became a wellness coach, I knew there had to be a better way to improve energy that didn’t just involve clocking our 8 hours every night (although that’s important, too).

Our energy is a combination of hormone balance, nutrient absorption, and the suppleness of our nervous systems.  So this week, we’re diving into the powerful relationship between what we eat and how we feel—a game-changer in managing stress and boosting our energy.

STRESS, ENERGY, AND FOOD

When working with clients, a common stressor is, “What do I make for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?” When we get caught in analysis paralysis, it’s natural to default to options that leave us feeling sluggish after finishing our last bite. Fast food restaurants are everywhere, and the standard American diet is likely a part of at least one of your core food memories. So it’s no wonder we crave comfort in highly processed foods when the going gets tough. It’s accessible, available, and makes us feel good.

Recognizing this pattern of seeking food prepared outside our homes opens the door to transformation—a journey I’ve embarked on and one I’m passionate about guiding you through. Transitioning from being overwhelmed with choices to finding your rhythm with nourishing meals reflects growth in what you eat and how you care for your whole self.

EXPERIMENT WITH A NEW RECIPE THIS WEEK

If you are working toward making more meals at home, go slow. Requiring yourself to try new recipes for every meal of every day, even for just a couple of weeks, is a one-way ticket to burnout. Start with one new meal this week and reevaluate. Here’s some ideas to get you started:

Breakfasts:

Lunches:

Dinners:

These foods don’t just fill your stomach; they fuel your mind—that’s why I advocate eating a homecooked meal as much as possible while not sweating it if you find yourself dining out occasionally. I know the journey of what to eat can sometimes feel like navigating a maze. But remember, each step, each bite, is a move towards a more energized and resilient you.
