As we continue to navigate through the landscape of the menstrual cycle, we arrive at a peak moment – ovulation fondly referred to as our “inner summer.”

Understanding Ovulation

This pivotal stage, typically unfolding around days 14-16 of a 28-day cycle, marks a time of heightened energy, clarity, and social connection. It’s during ovulation that an egg makes its journey from the ovary, escorted by a surge in estrogen and testosterone. This hormonal boost doesn’t just prime the body for potential fertilization; it enhances our confidence, sharpens our communication skills, and ignites our desire for social engagement. (I also believe the ovulation window is responsible for the I-made-plans-last-week-that-sound-awful-today phenomenon, but I digress…)

Practical Implementation Tips

  1. Communication: Use this time to engage in important conversations or negotiations. Your verbal skills and confidence are at their peak.
  2. Celebration: Plan social events or outings. This phase is naturally more extroverted and lively, much like summer.
  3. Balanced Nutrition: Ensure you’re eating a balanced diet to support your energy levels and hormone health.

Angelica’s Story

Angelica, a schoolteacher, syncs project due dates around her ovulation. She finds herself more articulate, making her feedback more productive and positive. While this doesn’t always work out perfectly, Angelica does make it a point to make parent contacts during this window and swears it changed her outlook on parent communication.
